How HEIC Conversion Works

HEIC/HEIF files (used by iPhones) cannot be decoded natively by most browsers. When you load a HEIC file, the tool dynamically loads the heic2any library from a CDN to decode the image into a format the browser can work with. The library is only loaded on demand — it is not fetched until you actually drop a HEIC file.

How Other Formats Work

For non-HEIC images (WebP, AVIF, PNG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIFF), the browser's native image decoder handles the input. The Canvas API's toBlob() method then re-encodes the image into your chosen output format.

Privacy

The only external request is loading the heic2any library when a HEIC file is detected. No image data is ever transmitted. The library runs entirely in the browser once loaded.
