About Loot Generator
What It Does
The Loot Generator creates random treasure for tabletop RPG encounters. It follows the treasure generation structure from the D&D 5e SRD, rolling appropriate coins, gems, art objects, and magic items based on the challenge rating of the encounter.
Treasure Types
- Individual — What you find on a single creature. Mostly coins, scaled by CR. You can roll for multiple creatures at once and get combined totals.
- Hoard — A full treasure hoard (a dragon's lair, a bandit cache, a dungeon vault). Includes guaranteed coins plus gems, art objects, and potentially magic items.
Data Reference
The tool includes descriptive data for:
- 84 gemstones across 6 value tiers (10 GP to 5,000 GP) with visual descriptions
- 78 art objects across 5 value tiers (25 GP to 7,500 GP) with physical descriptions
- 126 magic items across 5 rarities (common to legendary) with mechanical summaries
Challenge Rating Ranges
- CR 0–4 — Low-level encounters. Small coin amounts, cheap gems, basic magic items
- CR 5–10 — Mid-level encounters. Moderate wealth, mid-value gems and art, uncommon-rare magic
- CR 11–16 — High-level encounters. Significant gold and platinum, valuable items, rare-very rare magic
- CR 17+ — Legendary encounters. Massive wealth, priceless gems, legendary magic items
