About Text to Handwriting
What It Does
Text to Handwriting converts typed or pasted text into realistic handwriting images using your browser's Canvas API. Choose from 12 handwriting-style fonts, customize ink color, paper style, and fine-tune realism settings. Download as high-resolution PNG or editable SVG.

- Realism controls — adjust baseline wobble, character rotation, letter spacing variation, and ink color variation to simulate natural handwriting imperfections
- Letter variation — word-initial characters are drawn from a calibrated alternate font, simulating how people shape letters differently at the start of words
- Duplicate character nudge — when the same letter appears twice in a row (like "ll" or "ee"), the second gets extra variation so no two adjacent identical letters look the same
- 5 paper styles — blank white, college ruled (with red margin line), graph paper, aged vintage with stain effects, and transparent (for design overlays)
- 4 paper sizes — US Letter, A4, square, and landscape
- Markdown formatting — optional support for # headings, **bold**, and *italic*. Toggle off to render all characters literally
- Auto-extending pages — long text automatically flows across multiple pages with proper margins and page breaks

How It Works
Each character is rendered individually on an HTML Canvas element. For every character, the tool applies small random offsets to the vertical position (baseline wobble), rotation angle, horizontal spacing, and ink opacity. These offsets are generated from a seeded random number generator, so the same text produces consistent results until you click Re-randomize.
The letter variation system pairs each font with a calibrated alternate. When enabled, word-initial characters have a chance of being drawn from the alternate font at a hand-tuned scale factor, creating the subtle inconsistency seen in real handwriting.
For Designers
The SVG export produces editable vector files where each character is a separate text element with transform attributes. Combined with the transparent background option, this makes the tool useful for creating handwritten overlays, mockups, and design compositions.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser. No text is sent to any server. The fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Your text and settings stay on your device.
